What is the ROAST Academy?

The ROAST Academy introduces students to a host of digital disciplines including Paid Search, Paid Social, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Programmatic, Mobile, Display, Content Marketing and Data & Analytics.

We also cover broader media disciplines such as Strategy and Insights.

Beyond technical skills and theoretical knowledge, we develop our Academists’ soft skills through Interview and Presentation training. These sessions provide practical guidance on using body language and communication effectively in high-pressure situations.

The two-week deep dive programme takes place in our London office, giving you genuine insight into day-to-day agency life. By the end, you’ll have discovered where you fit best in the digital ecosystem.

Why did we build the Academy?

We understand that attracting the next generation of talent requires us to stay ahead. Our goal is to onboard young, diverse and passionate individuals who will shape the future of our industry.

To break down barriers to entry, challenge misconceptions about our industry and inspire emerging talent, we’ve realised that the best way to achieve this is to put the young people’s needs, rather than ours, at the centre of everything we do.

That’s why we created the ROAST Academy, a free educational programme that brings you up to speed on digital and media essentials, providing the foundations needed to build a successful long-term career.

What will you take from ROAST Academy?

You’ll gain essential soft and hard skills that prove invaluable as you begin your career, alongside comprehensive knowledge of the digital and advertising landscape. By the end of the programme, you’ll have clarity on exactly which role you are looking to secure. For really awesome candidates who align with our available positions, we may offer you a full-time position at the end of the two weeks.

Upon completion, you will receive a ROAST Academy Certificate and an industry reference. You’ll also sit your Google AdWords exams during the programme. Whilst we can’t guarantee results, last year’s cohort achieved a 100% pass rate, so we think you’ve got a decent chance.

Our award-winning learning and development programme takes a different approach to traditional recruitment, earning recognition in the press for  its innovative approach towards talent strategy.

Instead of standard CV reviews and single interviews, candidates will participate in a series of Q&A sessions, written tasks, networking opportunities, mock interviews and pitch simulations. An aspect of the course which I thought was extremely helpful was that all the speakers introduced themselves and their journey in the industry – helping us to see the different possible career paths available. They all gave some form of advice on life and finding the right job for you in general.

The main challenge I faced during the Academy was, as there were so many large personalities on the course, I sometimes struggled to speak out enough and ask the questions I wanted to. For that reason, I was so grateful to have the interview training and the drinks at the end of the Academy, as these provided great opportunities for me to interact one-on-one with many members at ROAST and ask the questions I wanted to.
