ROAST appoints Head of SEO and Content, Harry Sumner

Harry Sumner has joined Performance and Media agency, ROAST, as Head of SEO and Content. Sumner is the latest senior hire the agency have made to build upon a successful 2022, which saw turnover increase by more than 20%. Sumner will report into ROAST Managing Director, John Barham.

He will be heavily focused on four core areas to further bolster their organic search offering; service sophistication, measurement of business impact for clients, emerging technologies, as well as further expanding the organic teams in both the Cape Town and Bristol offices. Sumner has specialised in Search marketing for almost a decade, having started his career at Performics, before moving to Dentsu’s iProspect. More recently, Sumner held the position of Senior Search Director at iCrossing. He has also worked on the brand side as Search Lead for Sky. Barham said of the hire: “I couldn’t be happier to welcome Harry to the team. His wealth of experience in search, arms him to truly take our SEO to the next level. We are especially excited about his capabilities in Content marketing, proprietary technology and integrating both PPC and SEO. The primary focus of this role is maintaining and growing ROAST’s market-leading organic offering and I know Harry is the ideal person for the job.”

During his career, Sumner has lead campaigns for clients including Diageo, Post Office, LV insurance, Barclays and Philips. Sumner said: “When I heard of the opportunity at ROAST, I knew it was where I wanted to be – partly based on the agency’s culture and trajectory. But also, by all accounts, I knew they take SEO seriously, at a time where this space is growing and in demand.”

The appointment is set to help further strengthen ROAST’s offering at a time of accelerated growth for the Performance agency.
