Spilling the Tea with our MVP
Each month, our employees nominate a fellow agency member who they believe has gone above & beyond and demonstrated true TIPi Group spirit. Employees’ votes are benchmarked against one or more of our company values – collaboration, restless minds, integrity, and purpose. With no one director level or above being voted for, it’s all to play for each month for the desired title.
To celebrate their achievement, we sit down with each MVP and ask them to ‘Spill the Tea’ to really delve deep into what makes them tick, what they love about their job and the aspects of our company culture that they just can’t get enough of.
This month, after smashing his first (of many, we’re sure) educational ‘Back to School’ talk, as well as consistently having a smile on his face, it comes to no surprise that James George is October’s MVP.
1. Are there any upcoming updates that will affect you in SEO that you are excited about?
FLoC: In response to increasing GDPR concern, Google is moving away from cookies to a system called FLoC (federated learning of cohorts). This new system will allow for the protection of privacy of the individuals while allowing advertisers to serve relevant ads. FLoC achieves this by grouping individuals into cohorts based on similar interests. This will affect how performance data will be recorded and analysed as an SEO.
TF Ranking Update: Google’s latest release of Keras-Based TF-ranking technology is believed to be responsible for their rapid deployment of updates throughout June and July. With the new updates to Keras-based TF Ranking, improvements can be made to neural LTR (learning-to-rank) algorithms involved in language processing, spam fighting algorithms and ranking algorithms. This is likely to drive updates to Google much more frequently.
2. What has been the highlight of the year working within TIPi Group?
My highlights of the year would be hosting a ‘Would I Lie to You’ event over Zoom during lockdown (I got to see who the skilled liars are in the office).
As well as this, I also really enjoyed co-hosting the ‘Back to School’ session with Aimee.
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to live in Hawaii, in Honolulu. That has been my dream since I was a child.
Take a look at some of the comments some of James’s fellow employees made when voting:
‘I would like to vote for James George for his amazing work at the Back to School event – despite his nerves, he absolutely smashed it. As well as this, his month has been turbulent with a lot of changes, but the smile was never wiped off his face’
‘I would like to nominate James George for amazing team spirit during a month of lots of change, doing an amazing Back to School talk, and overall, just bringing good vibes to the team’
Thank you James for always representing TIPi Group’s values, as well as being the smiliest face in the office.
