Spilling the Tea with our MVP: Alex Sheppard

Kate Sweet • 07/05/2024

Our latest ROAST MVP is our Senior Insights Executive, Alex Sheppard. Congratulations Alex! So, we decided to wise up on our knowledge of Alex and ask her some questions…

Alex 101: Summarise yourself

Foodie, bit of a mum sometimes and like to go on as many holidays as possible

How would you describe working at ROAST?

It’s a very fun place to work! Everyone genuinely enjoys spending time with each other, outside of work as well, so I genuinely look forward to coming into the office which I think is pretty special. The whole atmosphere is very collaborative, and no one is ever too busy to answer questions and help so personally, it’s enabled me to learn so much from so many different people and at different seniorities.

What are you proudest of in your career so far?

I think doing the Shaping the Future event in January is definitely up there. I didn’t really know much about behavioural economics beforehand and had never produced a talk for an event before so the whole process was very new. I had great support from the team, and it went really well and having my talk featured in The New Digital Age was an added bonus!

What would your ideal company social be?

We are really lucky with the socials we get to do, but I think it would be fun to just have a beach day with some good food and wine OR just the ski trip all over again.

What is the best advice you could give to your younger self?

I would say to just take all the opportunities you can, both at work and outside of work. It’s obviously important to take chances to learn new skills and push yourself to do things that might make you nervous in a work setting as this is how you improve, but I also think taking the opportunity to travel to new places is important! Life moves super-fast so sometimes I think you just need to take a chance and just go for things rather than worrying too much.

“Alex has been an absolute powerhouse this month, taking on and executing a huge amount of Insights work whilst also juggling some new duties. She has dealt with the pressure excellently and always manages to keep smiling even when the going gets tough.”

“Alex was instrumental in delivering a large and complex competitor analysis project which was turned around in double-quick time and also delivered a wonderful client workshop which had glowing reviews.”
